Who we are

Classic Ford Truck (and Bronco) Trader is the premier website for classic Ford truck & Bronco classified ads. We are organized as an LLC in the state of Idaho, as Classic Ford Trader, LLC.  Our website is http://classicfordtrucktrader.com. We operate virtually, so we do not have a physical address, but if you need to contact us you can reach out via email.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Personal Information

When a user signs up for an account on our site we collect their name, email address & ask them to establish a password.  These are collected for the purpose of establishing the account.  Email addresses also allow us to send notifications to users when appropriate, such as to notify that their post has been approved, to notify when another user has sent them a message, etc. The sign up form also includes a provision for a contact number, should the user desire to provide, but this is not required to sign up.

When a user makes a purchase on our site we collect billing information, which includes the users name, address, phone number & email. This information is collected for purposes of billing and shipping (if applicable). We do not use this information to send any unsolicited mail or for any other marketing related purposes. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:

  • Send information about the order
  • Respond to requests
  • Process payments and prevent fraud
  • Set up the users account
  • Comply with any legal obligations we have, such as calculating taxes
  • Improve our store offerings

If you create an account, we will store your name, address, email and phone number, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.

When a user submits a vehicle ad, our system also allows the ad poster to provide a contact number, should they wish to have interested users contact them via phone. Providing a contact number is not required, as users can rely solely on the internal messaging system if they prefer.  Users who post an ad acknowledge that, if they provide a contact number as part of the post, this number will be revealed to any other user who clicks the button to request the number.  The number will not be provided to anyone who is not a registered user of the site. We are not responsible if other users misuse the phone number. Individuals who are concerned their phone number may be misused are encouraged to not provide their number & rely solely on the internal messaging system.

When a user posts an ad on our site they are acknowledging use and acceptance of our internal messaging system. When another user is interested in the vehicle advertised, they may use the messaging system to contact the user who posted the vehicle.  Users will receive an automated email notifying them when they have received a message from another user.

When a user posts an ad our system also requests their location (city & state). This information is utilized to refine search results and ensure other users can find vehicle advertisements in their area.  Users should not provide a specific address.  If a user feels uncomfortable providing the city the live in, they might consider using the nearest major metro area instead.

Ads/ Comments

We post classified ads posted by users of our site. When users leave comments (if comments are turned on) on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from the users email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if  the user is using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of the comment, the users profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Messaging

We provide a built in messaging system that allows users to connect with one another without having to divulge their personal information such as phone number or email address. If they so choose, ad posters may also provide a phone number as a secondary form of contact, but it is not required. We recommend users utilize this system for initial conversations, but find it is best to speak with an individual via phone to establish a relationship prior to meeting in person. We encourage users to refrain from providing any private personal information via this system.

Media

When a user uploads images to the website, they should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download images and may be able to extract location data from images. If the user is unsure how to remove location embedding, they should consult the user manual of the device they are using to take the pictures.
